  • 1/2 cup white flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup corn meal
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup oatmeal
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 large eggs

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie cutters (dog-themed shapes optional!)
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or light oiling

Baking Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In the large bowl, whisk together whole wheat flour, white flour, salt, garlic powder, and oatmeal.
  3. In a separate bowl or measuring cup, mix vegetable oil, molasses, eggs, and milk.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until a firm dough forms. Add more milk a tablespoon at a time if the dough seems too dry.
  5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or give it a light coat of oil to prevent sticking.
  6. Roll the dough out to ¼ inch thickness on a floured surface.
  7. Use cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes or cut into simple triangles.
  8. Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. For crunchy results, bake for 25-30 minutes. Opt for 20-25 minutes for chewier biscuits.
  10. Let the biscuits cool completely on a wire rack before storing them in an airtight container.
